Last October I had some time in between a couple of meetings and decided to stop in to Beef and Boards Dinner Theatre because I noticed their exterior sign was not fully illuminating.  When I introduced myself to the facility manager Nick Stark and let him know the reason I stopped by, he said that the sign was on hold for now but he had an immediate need for new lighting in the kitchen.  After reviewing the scope of work, I ran back to the office after my next appointment and gave him a proposal to retrofit his existing lighting in kitchen from T12 to T8.  We were out there 7 days later installing new lamps and ballasts in his kitchen. After the first of the year, we were contacted to service a couple of the exterior pole lights and he mentioned he wanted to get new faces and LED technology in the exterior sign.  We gave proposals and they gave the notice to proceed.  Please see before and after pictures of the new sign faces and LED Technology. 

Huston Electric’s Sign Division had the privilege of working with the Kokomo YMCA on the signage at their new facility. 
All of the exterior channel letters and architectural letters were provided and installed by Huston Signs.
 
We provided (2) sets of internally illuminated LED channel letters of the Y logo reading “the” “Y” “YMCA”. 
Under the logos are formed acrylic architectural letters honoring Delmar E. Demaree for the generous contributions he
made to the Kokomo YMCA.
 
We also installed black aluminum architectural letters to a steel beam at the front entrance of the YMCA.  
 
Additionally Huston provided a variety of interior signs.  One of the interior signs is a Dedication Plaque that is precision
tooled aluminum with a black pebble texture.  Other interior signs we provided were PVC substrates with digitally printed
graphics that include gym etiquette, gym rules, and locker room information.
 
Huston has had a long-standing relationship with the Kokomo YMCA and we were honored to work with them on their
new signage for the new facility.

YMCA of the USA had initiated a national rebranding initiative. Here in Marion, Indiana we had the challenge of meeting the branding standards yet continuing to honor and respect a local corporate partner whose name was on the outside of our building. From my first conversation with Huston they took the time to understand the complicated nature of this project. We had multiple options still being debated internally, a tight timeline, a tighter budget, and two companies’ graphic guidelines to fully understand. I recently had an opportunity to work with my good friend, Jim Anderson, on new signage for his building.  He had the façade remodeled and wanted a new sign to accompany the overall new look of the building.  His family owned business has a pretty special logo, which was designed by a childhood friend.  Jim wanted a high end, eye catching sign that would bring his logo to life so we chose to use individual illuminated channel letters with flat cut metal accents for the snowflakes.

Before they purchased their digital sign they would regularly update their changeable copy reader
board with information on local events.  They are also known for regularly posting birthday wishes
to local residents.  Rain or shine they were sure to update the reader board.  Now that the sign is
digital, it can easily be updated from the comfort of a computer desk.  The new sign is definitely an

Recently we had the opportunity to work with Pamela Leeman, Logans Landing and the City of Logansport to bring some local art to life.  Funding for the art was provided through proceeds of "Dancing with our Stars", an event that was established in 2010 to raise money to provide public art in the downtown and create an art district.  Logans Landing, Dancing with our Stars, event chairman Pamela Leeman commissioned works by local artists to be displayed publicly through their downtown.  We worked with the artists to ensure that their pieces were utilized as they liked, and that the print quality did their masterpieces justice.  The artwork was printed direct to substrate on dibond panels, and installed in framework around the town.  Two additional pieces were installed on the Visitor’s Center, which really helped the renovated building to STAND OUT!  We are grateful for the opportunity to help these artists share their work, read more about them and the City of Logansport at: http://www.indystar.com/story/news/politics/2015/12/20/public-art-brightens-downtown-logansport/77667528/.
