Huston’s Role: Electrical Contractor
Description: Restoration of the School
Project Summary:
In November of 2013, a tornado went through the southern portion of Tippecanoe County. Mintonye Elementary School was one of many buildings that had immense damage due to the storm, and the school was unusable. Huston worked hand-in-hand with the owners to restore power to the building in the following days, and were later announced to be a part of the team that would do the renovations to the school. The restoration process was scheduled for the summer of 2014. The school now features a newer and more efficient lighting system, as well as a new fire alarm system, audio system, communication system, and control system, which were all installed by Huston Electric. Mintonye also received an entirely new data system, which includes wireless access points and HDMI/VGA hookups. The project was on an aggressive 10 week timetable which required intense coordination and planning by Huston Electric. The project was completed both on time and on budget. The school will be reopened for the 2014-2015 school year.
