Project Summary:
Fort Benjamin Harrison is located in Lawrence, IN and is an Army, Navy, and Marine base that is comprised of four separate buildings. Two of the buildings are classroom/ multi-purpose facilities and the other two are service bays for vehicles and other automated machinery. Huston was named the electrical contractor of the job and was in charge of installing the lighting, lighting control, communications, fire alarm, mass notification, access control, sound, structural grid, solar voltaic, and data systems. The lighting system features energy efficient LED pole lights, as well as all the interior and exterior lighting of the buildings. The fire alarm and mass notification systems were built and installed in cooperation with Simplex-Grinnell and is a state of the art system that covers the entire complex. The solar voltaic system features new solar panels, which are used in to help power the buildings and also keep the base as energy efficient as possible. Huston was also in charge of all sub-terrain power, which includes ten man holes spread throughout the base. Substantial completion of this project is set to be for the end of July 2014.
