The Fuse student living complex located at Purdue’s West Lafayette campus is a multi-level project that offers over 200 living units, an underground 400 space parking garage, and 7 retail shops located in the main floor of the building. The building also offers a fitness and yoga center, as well as two fully furnished courtyards where occupants are able to relax outside. The main floor of the complex features a state-of-the-art Regions bank, which will be one of the first banks in Indiana to implement electronic bank tellers. Huston Electric served as the electrical contractor of this job, as well as the designer for the lighting, control, security, telecom, and fire alarm systems. The fire alarm system that was designed and built in cooperation with Simplex Grinnell is one of the most state of the art fire protection systems and the first of its kind in the area. Huston also installed the emergency power system, which consists of a Baldor generator that supplies all emergency power to the building if there is a power outage. The lighting package for this project features energy and cost efficient LED hallway lights throughout the building, as well as LED exterior lights. This project also was completed in help with Huston’s Pre-Fabrication shop, which assembled various devices and helped the project be completed on time and on budget. The building is set to be completed in the fall of 2014.
