Lafayette’s new Public Safety Building and Parking Garage is located in downtown Lafayette on Columbia Street and will be the new headquarters for the Lafayette Police Department, 911 Dispatch, and Public Safety Departments. The parking garage will add an additional 468 parking spots to downtown Lafayette for both Public Safety personnel and the public. Huston Electric is proud to have four of our specialty divisions involved with the construction of this project including Huston Electric, Huston Solar, Huston Signs, and Huston Tech.

The four Huston Electric divisions have worked diligently over the last 24 months to provide the City of Lafayette with state-of-the-art electrical and low-voltage systems for their new facility. Huston’s role on this project includes material procurement and installation of the following systems: utility relocation, power distribution, lightning protection, LED lighting, telecommunications, security, audio/ visual, emergency power, and life safety technology. On the roof, Huston Solar installed a 140kW ballast-mounted solar energy system to help offset utility costs. Huston’s Sign Division has also been tasked with the design, production, and installation of the new interior and exterior signage. The Public Safety Building and Parking Garage plans to open this spring and will ensure the City of Lafayette has continued access to exceptional Public Safety Services.

A Night Time View

At night, the exterior of the Parking Garage will be lit with color-changing DMX lighting. This lighting combined with the channel letter signage and building accent lighting will ensure you won’t miss this facility at night.
