Huston was selected to be the electrical contractor on a new Waelz Kiln Facility for Waelz Sustainable Products (WSP) in Logansport, Indiana. This facility serves as a zinc recycling facility, providing the metals sector a sustainable solution for steel. Moreover, it presents steel mills with an alternative for extracting zinc from their byproducts. In May of 2020 Huston Electric was awarded its first contract in Logansport, Indiana on the Waelz Sustainable Products project. In the 2.5 years that followed, Huston performed over 120,000 manhours of electrical work. The scope for this project included electrical rough ins, installation, testing, startup, and maintenance on large switchgear, elaborate controls systems, conveyor systems, blowers, kilns, wells, and many other large scale production specific systems and equipment.
At times, the Huston team was made up of over 75 electricians and they completed their tasks in a very safe and efficient manner. All while doing their part to keep the project on schedule towards operational startup goals. We are so proud of the incredibly talented electricians at Huston Electric and the electrical installation at WSP is a testament to both their dedication and abilities.
We are thankful to be given the opportunity to work with FA Wilhelm, Heritage Research Group, and Zinc Nacional alongside many other talented union trade partners to help complete this project.
