Huston delivers new signage for Silo Storage in Indianapolis

b2ap3 thumbnail Silo night photo

Silo is a new storage facility in Indianapolis that provides the highest level of security for cars, trucks, and motorcycles.  They are a first-of-its-kind collector of exotic vehicles in the Indy area offering concierge car storage, conference rooms, and even a luxuriously outfitted bar.  Silo caters to the most prestigious car owners and offers a lavish setting for storage and admiration of the automobiles.

The logo design of Silo was provided by Willow Marketing of Indianapolis with the aura of “elite class” in mind.  The logo is comprised of bold lettering and an eagle design.  The eagle represents authority and leadership while its shield embodies security and refuge.  The wings complete the aesthetic and mimic a car emblem.
When it came to material choices of the signage, we knew it had to make an impact.  The “SILO” letters are front-lit and back-lit reverse channel letters with the faces being routed silver aluminum with ½” push-thru white acrylic and illuminated with white LEDs.  These letters are baffled and back-lit with red LEDs.  The eagle is also front-lit and back-lit.  The face of the eagle is routed, backed with white polycarbonate and illuminated with white LEDs.  The eagle is baffled and back-lit with red LEDs.  The eagle reverse channel logo is painted red.  The lettering reading “AUTO CLUB AND CONSERVANCY” are non-illuminated reverse channel letters.
Huston’s graphic design team provided the scaled rendering and material specs for fabrication of the signage.  We provided a smooth installation using a 2-man crew with a bucket truck to get the job done.
Huston’s Account Executive, Mike Ford, spearheaded this project and brought it all together beautifully with his communication between the customer, designers, manufacturers, and installers.
Huston Signs provides and installs electronic message centers, channel letters, architectural letters, monument signs, pylon signs, neon signs and blade signs.  Huston has physical locations in Kokomo, Lafayette and Indianapolis, Indiana.

Immaculate Heart of Mary helps refresh of their current technology.

Huston Electric was contacted by Immaculate Heart of Mary to discuss a possible refresh of their current technology.  Huston visited the school to provide an assessment of their classrooms, and asked the administrators and teachers what they wanted to be able to accomplish with their new technology.  They informed us that the previous installer was very impersonal, they did a poor job on the installs, and they were very hard to get a hold of after the installation.
At Huston, we take great pride in being there for our customers before, during, and after the installation.  For Immaculate Heart of Mary, we ended up removing and disposing of all their existing whiteboards, and replacing them with SMARTs new 65” SMART KappIQ Interactive flat panel displays.  We also installed SMART Speakers for enhanced sound in the classrooms.
The installation of all 24 rooms was accomplished in the time frame they needed, we connected each one to the teacher’s computer workstations, hiding the wires so they are free from view.  Along the way we answered questions and worked with the staff to ensure they had each board where they needed them, and that they knew to operate them by the time the school year started.
Immaculate Heart of Mary was so impressed with the installation and the care given to them, that they agreed to do a short documentary video about the project.   We are very pleased with the outcome of this project, and would love the opportunity to work with you on any future technology upgrades you may be considering at your location.
Shelly Jenkins, (Technology Director Immaculate heart of Mary) provided the following testimonial:
“ We could not be more pleased in our choice of Huston Electric for our Smartboard upgrade project in 2017!  Your efficient work, and helpful guidance enabled us to complete our entire school installation project in the time we had estimated.  Your installation technician, Brandon Bowyer, made sure each classroom was prepped correctly, even answering teachers questions along the way. Every cable is securely mounted, and practically invisible – Such a great job!  The SMARTBoard interactive panels and speakers systems are perfectly installed, look fantastic, and work great!  Thank you for your training on how to use them easily, and tips about common functions.  Our teachers started off the school year with excellent new equipment, and we highly recommend Huston Electric as the best SMARTBoard installation company in Indiana”.

Huston Electric installed 15 light poles with 320 LED sports lighting fixtures to complete this 5.6 million project on Purdue University’s Ross-Ade Stadium over the course of three months.

LOCATION: Purdue University, Ross Ade Stadium,  West Lafayette, Ind.
HUSTON ROLE:

Electrical Power
Stadium Lighting Installation
Lighting Controls
Prefabrication

PROJECT SUMMARY:
Huston Electric had the opportunity to light Purdue’s Ross Ade Football Stadium for the first Purdue Home Football game, September 8th, under new LED lights.

Huston worked with Wilhelm Construction to complete a $5.6 million dollar project that will allow Purdue’s football team to now host night games. The university approved the project once the Big Ten Network gave the go ahead.

Doug May, Wilhelm Construction Superintendent on the project, worked alongside Huston’s team and said this was the first time he worked with Huston Electric, and he was very impressed with the team’s professionalism and proactive attitudes.

“This was my first time working with Huston and I would work with them again. They were very good about sticking to the tight deadline and working out design problems that could potentially impact the schedule,” May said.

The project consisted of:

15 light poles, 11 that span the east side of the stadium and one in each of the four corners of the field.
Ribbon-style lighting will connect the 11 east-side poles and will be replicated on the west side, attached to a new 360-foot catwalk atop the Ross-Ade Pavilion.
320 LED sports lighting fixtures, each one individually controllable via a DMX control system, which will allow for full remote adjustment options. There will be 140 diodes per fixture, for an approximate total of 45,000 diodes.

The lights will yield 320,000 total watts of power and more than 36 million lumens of light output. The first night game took place on September 8th, with no further night games scheduled at this time.

Brookestone Office Complex Enjoys Quality New Signage

Brookestone is an office complex located in Kokomo, Indiana with 19,000+ square feet that is comprised of office suites and conference rooms to fit small business needs.  This building was formerly the home of a local UAW so the building underwent an extensive interior remodel through Perkins Contracting.  Their renovations included new signage to advertise for their tenants and lighting retro-fits to the interior and exterior fixtures; all of which were provided and installed by Huston Electric.

Huston’s Sign Division worked with Scott Perkins on the signage plans by offering design concepts and material choices to educate Scott on the different options.  The signage is streamlined to offer a cohesive look for the office complex, while still allowing each of the tenants to use their own branding.  We didn’t want to compromise the sophisticated look of the complex by allowing multi-colored logos on the pylon sign so the tenants were permitted to use their logos, but in white and Duranodic bronze only.  The sign faces of the pylon are white polycarbonate substrates applied with 3M opaque Duranodic vinyl with the tenant logos weeded out to showcase their logos in white.  Perkins Contracting provided the excavation, concrete, and stone for the pylon sign’s base while Huston provided and installed the steel supports and signage.  Working with Perkins Contracting was seamless and together we achieved a well-designed, well-built sign that will positively represent Brookestone and their tenants for years to come.

Huston also provided and installed brushed aluminum letters reading “BROOKESTONE” “OFFICE SUITES” using brushed aluminum architectural letters.  These letters are stud-mounted and flush-mounted to the main building frontage.  The signage is illuminated with an LED flood light.  Additionally, we provided and installed the “Edward Jones” brushed aluminum architectural letters.

Scott Perkins provided the following testimonial:
“One of those most important pieces to this multi-tenant facility was the signage to highlight the many businesses that call Brookestone home.  Matt and Samantha were very patient in designing the perfect sign for Brookestone.  They gave great advice and produced signs that have met every need.  Samantha worked very hard to make sure I got exactly what I wanted and her input was invaluable.  I am extremely proud of the finished product at Brookestone and very grateful to Huston Signs for adding the finishing touch!”
We greatly appreciate Scott Perkins for choosing Huston for his sign and lighting needs at Brookestone.  We are proud to have been part of such a great project!

Brookestone Receives Extensive Lighting Retro-fit

Brookestone is an office complex located in Kokomo, Indiana with 19,000+ square feet that is comprised of office suites and conference rooms to fit small business needs.  This building was formerly the home of a local UAW so the building underwent an extensive remodel through Perkins Contracting.  Their renovations included lighting retro-fits to the interior and exterior fixtures and new signage to advertise for their tenants; all of which were provided and installed by Huston Electric.
The lighting retro-fits were extensive both on the interior and exterior of the building.  Fortunately, the cost was off-set due to Duke Energy’s rebate program for energy efficiency upgrades.  Duke’s rebate incentive totaled upwards of $18,000 to compensate for the investment in retro-fitting so many fixtures.
Retro-fits included:

87 surface mounted LED panels in office & conference rooms
30 recessed LED fixtures
43 occupancy sensors
14 vapor tight LED fixtures for the fitness center’s locker rooms
10 LED high bays in the fitness center
15 EXIT signs

Scott Perkins provided the following testimonial:
“I am very pleased with the finished product at Brookestone due in large part to Huston Signs and Electric.  When I decided to completely renovate the lighting in this 19,000 sq ft facility, I knew I needed an expert in the field of lighting and electrical.  Huston Electric met or exceeded all of my expectations.  Rick, Dennis, and their team produced a product that looks and functions great.  They even took care of all the rebate paper work from Duke to save over $18,000 on the project.”
Dennis Lane, Lighting Retro-fit Specialist for Huston Electric, encourages our customers to upgrade lighting systems to LED because of the energy savings and reduction in maintenance cost along with the incentives that Duke Energy offers.  Dennis provides free quotes, specs to show ROI for energy savings, estimates on rebates through Duke Energy, lighting layouts, and free samples on a trial offer.

Westminster Village Receives New Signage

westminster

Westminster Village is a beautiful senior living community in West Lafayette and Huston Electric has been fortunate enough to work with them as their facility has continued to grow over the years on their needs for electrical, generators, telephone systems, and signage.  We value our partnership with Westminster Village immensely and are extremely proud of the work our electricians and technicians have provided to them.

Sarah Mitchell, Designer for Westminster Village, provided this testimonial, “Huston was a wonderful company to work with to get the right signage we were looking for.  Excellent customer service and quality work.  We will continue using them on future projects!”
Westminster is comprised of several housing options for their residents with both assisted living and independent houses and apartments.  Because they have such a large community all on one property there is a need for many different types of signage such as directional signs that point toward different areas of the complex, building name identifiers, and street signs.  We have stayed consistent with the style of the signs by using the same fonts, color schemes, and materials as new signs are made through the years.  Their cohesive branding is simple yet sophisticated and fits perfectly with their lovely environment.

Marble The Steakhouse Receives Grand Sign Package

marble1

Do you want your signs to stand out above the rest with quality design and craftsmanship?  Look no further, Huston can deliver on all of your signage needs!
Our most recent example of this can be seen at the new Marble The Steakhouse located in downtown Kokomo.

We provided two wall signs and a perpendicular sign all with flanged edges, dimensional lettering, and digitally printed graphics of the cow logo.  The flanged edges help give the signs depth as opposed to just doing a flat sign panel.  The dimensional lettering is a sophisticated way of displaying the lettering for “MARBLE” “THE STEAKHOUSE” and the digitally printed cow logo really adds to the character of the signage.
Along with the building signs, we also made a cut-out cow from PVC and applied digitally printed vinyl over it and hung it over their kitchen door.  We did another digitally printed cow logo on an old-fashioned electrical box and applied vinyl to three exterior doors using their logo with the hours of operation, “Please Use Main Door”, and “Employee Entrance”.
Just like Marble is a “cut above” other steakhouses, we feel the same about the signs we provide.  Many competitors in the sign industry may offer a cheaper price, but the materials will reflect that as well.  We offered these attractive signs to Marble at an affordable price, but went the extra mile in recommending better materials to help them visually communicate their quality brand.
We love helping our customers stand out in the community with great looking signs!  Call us for your next sign project and we’ll be glad to help you with logo design and will provide on-site renderings of what your new signage could look like on your property.  From there, we’ll discuss material options so you can make an educated decision on what works best for you and your budget.  Huston’s sign team also handles all sign permits through the local municipalities so you never have to worry about the paperwork to have your signs permitted.  Huston offers the best signs and customer experience & we can’t wait to work with you on your next sign project!
